Through strategic work with institutional investors, NHSA helps them tailor their social investment commitments in ways that will meet urgent local needs.

NHSA is a lending resource in support of the work of over 240 community development organizations. NHSA gives these organizations access to affordable loan products and services to assist residents in the improvement of their homes and whole neighborhoods.

As a national nonprofit secondary market, NHSA

• purchases loans with recourse that have been originated by, or assigned to, a nonprofit organization; 
• purchases first mortgages for homeownership from local lender partners of nonprofit organizations, and 
• provides interim development financing and permanent mortgages for nonprofit-owned properties.
