Neighborhood Housing Services of America is a national nonprofit secondary market that has been working since 1974 to revitalize neighborhoods and strengthen communities across America. A strong constituency of institutional investors provides socially responsive capital in support of NHSA’s mission. Through its lending services, NHSA collaborates with private sector institutional investors, philanthropic organizations, governmental entities, and NeighborWorks® America to improve mortgage industry products and services for community initiatives.
As the leading provider of nonprofit secondary market capital to the community development field, NHSA has developed innovative loan products and services in support of affordable single-family and multifamily residential properties. For over 30 years, NHSA has been a lending resource to the NeighborWorks® network of more than 230 local nonprofits in partnership with NeighborWorks® America.
In 2000, NHSA created a community development financial institution affiliate, NHSA-CDFI, to provide nonprofit direct lending, including interim development and permanent multifamily loans to NeighborWorks organizations.
In 2006, NHSA expanded its services to the broader community development field through its nonprofit subsidiary Just Price Solutions (JPS). JPS has developed a technology platform of Web-based tools, including BestFIT
and an automated underwriting engine with alternative credit analysis and centralized back office processing.
